The Pharaoh in Me

We all know the story of the Exodus, where Moses the Patriarch of God, led the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. The people were crying for deliverance, as they were under oppression and slavery from their Egyptian Masters for over 400 long years. God rose up Moses as the man to be His mouth piece and His representative for His people and bring them out of bondage.

Most people know the story, but some never look at it from the perspective of Pharaoh. In this article, we are going to look at the story of the Exodus through Pharaoh’s eyes.

The Exodus and Pharaoh’s Hardened Heart

In Exodus 7 we see the beginning of the show down between Moses and Pharaoh

God told Moses in Exodus 7:3

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.

For a very long time I wondered to myself, why would God, harden someone’s heart when in the bible many times God gave messages to His people, and to us, not to harden our hearts or stiffen our necks.

God answered my question. I am going to share it with you later on in this article.

Showdown Begins

Moses comes before the King of Egypt and makes a bold request…… “The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness.

Pharaoh a God in his own eyes, says “Who are you to come to me, and tell me what to do, do know who I am”

“I do not know your God, and I will NOT let your people Go.

Moses was like………alright

In Comes Plague #1………Waters turn to Blood…………

Pharaoh saw this with his own eyes, the river Nile became blood and all the waters in Egypt turned to blood, but his magicians equaled this act.

So, he wasn’t fazed by this plague. He went to his palace, as if nothing happened.

His heart was hard.

Showdown Continues

Moses comes before the King of Egypt and makes a bold request…… “‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness…..

Pharaoh says: “I will NOT let your people Go”

Moses was like……alright

In Comes Plague #2…………The Plague of Frogs…………

Frogs filled the land of Egypt and became a pest to the people, it was a torment to them. Pharaoh begged Moses, to ask God to take away the plague of Frogs and if God does this, he will let his people go.

Moses asks God to lift the plague, God does it, Pharaoh sees relief and TURNS BACK ON HIS WORD. He hardened his heart and refused to let the people go.

In Comes Plague #3…………The Plague of Lice…………

Then Plague 4, Plague 5, Plague 6, 7, 8, 9. Plague after plague, fell and it seems like after each plague Pharaoh’s heart got harder and harder and harder.

Then came Plague#10………Death of the First Born………

Pharaoh finally gave in, his heart finally got soft when his first-born son died. The death of his SON hit the spot.

His heart was broken and he gave in (Or did he?). He gave the command to Moses to go with the Israelites. If you know the story you know that Pharaoh changed his mind again, after God’s people left Egypt. His heart was indeed hard.

Question: Why did God harden Pharaoh’s heart?

Answer: Because Pharaoh refused to let God in. God left Him alone, to his own way.

That still small voice that would soften his heart, for Him to recognize the sovereignty of the one true God was quenched by his PRIDE and SELFISHNESS.

All God did when he hardened Pharaoh’s heart was to leave him alone.

SDA Bible Commentary Volume 1 Page 1,110…

Every additional evidence of the power of God that the Egyptian monarch resisted, carried him on to a stronger and more persistent defiance of God. Thus the work went on, finite man warring against the expressed will of an infinite God.

This case is a clear illustration of the sin against the Holy Ghost. “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Gradually the Lord withdrew His Spirit. Removing His restraining power, He gave the king (Pharaoh) into the hands of the worst of all tyrants,—which is………SELF.

2 Chronicles 30:8

Do not be stiff-necked, as your ancestors were; submit to the LORD. Come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever. Serve the LORD your God, so that his fierce anger will turn away from you.

The call for us is to Submit to the Lord today and escape his anger so that you can live for eternity

It is interesting to note that while the plagues fell on the land of Egypt the area where the Israelites lived was untouched. They did not suffer the plagues.

In addition to that, something interesting was done by the Israelites so that the 10th Plague would not affect them. In, Exodus 12:12 God told them to place the blood of goats over their door posts and that would be a sign for the Angel of death to Passover them. The blood was a sign of protection. This blood represented the blood of Jesus, that figuratively has the power to save us all from eternal death and the wrath of God. Revelation 1:5, John 1:7, Romans 5:9.

So what does Pharaoh have to do with you? How does this apply to you?

There is going to come a time when the very same thing that happened to Pharaoh will happen to some of us, If we continue to reject the calling of God to submit to Him. We see the signs of the times, we acknowledge them, yet we choose not to fully submit.

If we continue, Selfishness will take over FULLY and the 7 last plagues will be our doom.We will, NOT escape God’s anger.

Revelation 16:1 speaks of the pouring out of the vials on the earth, each vial will cause a plague. The difference between the plagues of Egypt and the seven last plagues is that when the seven last plagues begin to fall, your cry to God for salvation will be too late.

Pharaoh got many chances to change before the Almighty God, before and during the ten plagues of Egypt. But when the seven last plagues begin to fall on this earth, it will be JUDGEMENT.

But before it reaches that point. We can escape the anger of God, if we submit ourselves to Him, Today!

Over to You

What are the signs God is showing you with the intent to get through to your heart?

The Pharaoh in you and I wants our own way. Yet we learn that our own way will lead to destruction Proverbs 14:12. If you want to escape the plagues to come, remember the lessons learnt from what happened to Pharaoh. Take heed and do not allow selfishness, pride or procrastination to rob you from love and life eternal.

Submission to God comes when we allow Him to lead our lives. Read His word and communicate with Him through prayer frequently. As we do these things we will see ourselves becoming more like Jesus. Then the Pharaoh mentality, our own selfish ways will gradually be destroyed.

Why not submit to God today, escape His anger and live forever.

Is the Earth Flat or Round?

There has been a resurgence of this theory in recent times about the physical state of our planet. In the early centuries many scholars and people contemplated this question with many coming to the conclusion that the earth is flat, until the satellites have taken pictures to show the spherical state of the earth. Still there are some that say that the earth is flat.

The Earth Being Round a Mystery

You may ask the questions:

If the earth is round, how is it that people who live in Australia “the land down under” do not fall off the earth? (seeing that they are closer to the bottom of the sphere).

If the earth is round, how is it that the waters of the seas are level everywhere, from Iceland to the Southern Ocean? It doesn’t practically make any sense.

Science could probably explain this, but even if it couldn’t, the witness of the multiple satellite imagery should be enough to believe (that the earth is round). In addition to that, the greatest Scientist (God the Father, our Creator) is magnificently full of mysteries beyond our comprehension. That alone should be good enough to believe.

Putting This Matter Into Perspective

There are a few questions for the flat earth Christians or philosophical believers to consider. I understand that not all things can be rationally explained. After all we serve a God full of mysteries.

This is an attempt to put things in perspective.flat-earth

If the earth is flat, will that make a difference in my soul’s salvation?

If the earth is spherical, how will that cause a soul to lose out on salvation?

Will the proof or disproof of this matter give me an upper hand in heaven?

For Christians who are purporting this concept of a flat earth as new truth that separates them from other Christians, seeing it as new light and ultimate truth. Please bear in mind that there are greater matters as it pertains to our true purpose on earth that needs your attention.

Example, focusing on:

  • The Great Commission of Matthew 28:16-20
  • Getting Extra Oil
  • Using our Talents for the furtherance of the Kingdom of Heaven
  • Meeting the needs of the least of Jesus’ brethren

Remember this, The Athenians in Acts 17 particularly mentioned in verse Acts 17:21, “spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing”.

They were never satisfied, they wanted to dig deeper and ask questions that were not for them to seek an answer. Don’t get me wrong having a curious mind is good, but when is it good enough for that curiosity to be satisfied. At some point in time we must be able to be content with what is revealed to us by God and leave the mysteries of our great Creator alone.
