Trump Ordained By God? Why It Is Important To Keep Church And State Separate

The idea that Trump was chosen by God to lead the US in this day and age is nothing new in the evangelical world. Come this October 2 and 4, a movie is scheduled to be released about how the current president of the United States of America was chosen by God.

See the video for more details:

This notion is bringing back the “okay” for the church and the state to be meddling in each others affairs. The nation (US), even other nations as an example, have gone far away from the principles of the Bible that to “make America great again” even the world great again, the nation(s) need to get back to the principles of God/Bible.

That is amazing. Any nation, that is lead by people that are driven by the true principles of the Bible and the God of heaven will be a prosperous nation. However, it is very important to note that any nation that is lead by people who are driven by false principles of the Bible and lead by a false God or someone who falsely represents God, will result in widespread apostasy, compromise and persecution.

History seems to always repeat itself. If we do not remember it and learn from history, we are bound to repeat it.

Why it is important to separate church and state

When the church gets into the state’s (a country’s) affairs, two things normally happen, compromise and persecution.

Compromise: The principles of the Bible gets compromised for the acceptance of popular culture/practices, with an appeal for would be converts to come in the church and be accepted on common beliefs, without loving reproof for unsound doctrine. We see that this has happened when Emperor Constantine was converted and Christianity became the state religion of the Roman Empire and various pagan practices entered in the early church and has only grown since (Christianity’s Pagan Roots). This happened as a means to appeal to the lifestyle/culture of the people and not reproving them for their pagan practices that were ultimately infused in the church, thus apostasy occurred among some of the true believers (embracing an opinion contrary to one’s previous beliefs).

Persecution: The second thing that occurs is persecution. In a quick rundown of the history of the early church, the book the Great Controversy outlines in Chapters 2 and 3 Persecution in the First Centuries and An Era of Spiritual Darkness how compromise entered into the Christian church and the persecution that followed the believers who weren’t willing to.

Christians were forced to choose either to yield their integrity and accept the papal ceremonies and worship, or to wear away their lives in dungeons or suffer death by the rack, the fagot, or the headsman’s ax (GC pg 54)

Recommended Reading: The Great Controversy (Chapter 2 & 3) or listen to the audio here.

It is very important that we should pray for our nation, whichever country we live, (2 Chronicles 7:14). However, it is equally important that the church as an organization be separate from the state. In so doing, freedom of religion will be upheld, giving people a right to choose just as our loving God has done for us. (giving us the ability to choose Him or not, as that is the true essence of love, choice)

Unfortunately the USA will allow itself to be led by the Papacy in the near future. And the marriage of church and state will once again become a reality, and the whole world will follow (it is prophesied in the bible and it is sure to happen). Watch this powerful documentary for more information.

Until then, continue to grow your faith in Christ, so that when the test comes to choose God’s commands over man’s traditions you will be able stand and say NO to compromise and YES to the one true living God of heaven and earth, Elohim.

Salmonella and Cyclospora outbreaks in the US

emergency hospital

Multiple brands of pre-packaged, processed foods and eggs have been recalled due to concerns of bacteria infection (Salmonella, E Coli, Cyclospora). Over the past few weeks weeks in the US, dozens of people have gotten sick, hospitalized and a few have died due to infections received from consuming contaminated food.

Food manufacturers are being reactive and preventative, by recalling products that they believe could be contaminated. See the following articles for more details:

Ecumenism Live In The Church Of The Brethren

As the ecumenical train moves forward to the destination of Christian unity among Protestant churches, the Church of the Brethren is making it clear that moving forward to that destination is one of it’s mission items.

The 2018 Conference approved “Vision of Ecumenism for the 21st Century,” and in doing so reaffirmed the historical identity of the Church of the Brethren as a denomination active in ecumenical work and in relationship with other Christian bodies. The paper also calls the church to build and nurture positive interfaith relationships.

As we see the ecumenical movement ripening, let us seek, ask, pray and strive for an extra measure of the Holy Spirit while preparing our vessels for the out pouring of the Latter Rain.

Pigs A Host for Ebola Virus?

pigs medium

An investigation was done on 400 Pigs in areas of Sierra Leone where there were reported human cases of the Ebola virus. Three pigs of the 400, had been infected by the virus. Even though it was found that they had been infected, it doesn’t mean that they showed symptoms of the virus.

It is uncertain if these three pigs played a role in the spread of the recent outbreak of the virus in West Africa, even so, it is a cause for concern. Read this article from the American Council on Science and Health for more information.

Luke 21:11, “There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.”

Even though diseases and pestilences (fatal diseases) have been around for centuries, we know that as we approach closer to the coming of Jesus these events will increase in frequency and intensity, just like child labor for a woman. The contractions and pain increases in frequency and intensity as the time nears for the baby to be born. NIV version Matthew 24:8 “All these are the beginning of birth pains”, with “these” referring to the signs mentioned in the previous verse.

As pestilences increase let us remember the words of Jesus found in Matthew 16:2-3 and make it a duty to prepare for his second coming.

He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.

Death Toll Continues to Climb in Japan Flood

As the death toll in the recent flood in Japan exceeds 100, there are fears that this number will continue to rise as the number of people missing is also going up. The rainfall in the areas hardest hit is considered to be the worst ever recorded. Weather officials in the country says they have never seen this type of rainfall before. Please read more here from the BBC.

Luke 21:11, “There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.”

How To Get Extra Oil – Part 3

how to care

We are at the final installment in this three part series.

We have seen the importance of having Extra Oil for our soul’s salvation in these last days. See Part 1 for more details.

We have also seen the importance of investing the treasures of the kingdom and the danger of not investing. See Part 2 for more details.

We know what we need: Extra Oil

We know what we have: Oil and the treasure of the kingdom of heaven

We know how to get Extra Oil: Through investment of the treasure of the kingdom of heaven

Now we are going to find out what to invest in.Reference Matthew 25:31-46 (Parable of the Sheep and the Goats)

The Parable of the Sheep and the Goats Explained:

Jesus begins this parable by saying “When the Son of Man shall come in all His glory”, no more the kingdom of heaven is likened unto. This time all has been finished and rewards are to handed out to the faithful and sentencing for the unfaithful.

All nations stand before his throne and they are split up into two groups.

One group on the left of the throne and the other on the right. The group on the left are called goats. The group on the right are called sheep.

The group on the right are told by the King (Jesus) that they are blessed of His Father, and they should come and inherit the kingdom of heaven prepared for them. They are rewarded. They are given the gift of eternal life and the joy of heaven.

They are then told why they are given this ultimate reward.

They were told that they were people who cared for Jesus, feeding him when he was hungry, giving him drink when he was thirsty, providing clothing when he needed it.

They replied confused saying Lord when did we see you in need and met those needs?

The Lord then replies that what you did for the least of these my brethren you did it unto me.

The King then addressed the group on the left. Pronouncing a damning judgement upon them. “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire”

The reason for this He then explained to them. In contrast to the group on the right (sheep), the group on the left (goats) did NOT care for Jesus.

They too replied as they didn’t understand why Jesus said what he said.

The Lord then replies that what you did NOT do for the least of these my brethren you did it NOT unto me. They then went away into everlasting punishment.

The Parable Analyzed:

Remember that there is a lot that can be analyzed from this parable. We are focusing our analysis to answer the question: What must we invest the treasures of heaven in?

After reading the above we see that, Jesus returns and judgement is being pronounced, the group of people that were called “Blessed of my Father” They are:

  • Rewarded with Eternal Life (verse 46)
  • Inherit the kingdom of heaven, prepared for them (verse 34)
  • They had a Love for Jesus, as they cared for Him (verse 35-36)
  • They had a Love for people, as they cared for them (verse 40)

The other group (Goats):

  • Received eternal punishment (verse 46)
  • Receive the punishment of hell fire (verse 41)
  • They did Not have true love Jesus, as they cared NOT for Him (verse 42-43)
  • They did Not have true love for people, as they cared NOT for them (verse 45)

In this parable we see that the deciding factor for eternal life or eternal damnation is hinged on the care for People. “The least of these my brethren”, means people who are in great need.

volunteer helping

Therefore, the answer to the question of what we must invest in, is: People.

This parable’s underlying message is a call to MISSION WORK. To give caring attention to the following both in a Spiritual sense and a Physical sense:

  • Hungry
  • Thirsty
  • Stranger
  • Naked
  • Sick
  • Prisoners

Let’s sum it all up

All 3 parables of Matthew 25 speaks of the second coming of Jesus Christ. In all three parables we see a trend. Reward for the righteous, Judgement for the wicked. In addition to that, these people who were referred to in these parables are people who had a “knowledge of Jesus”

Virgins knew the Bridgeroom (Jesus)

Servants knew the Master (Jesus)

Sheep and the Goats knew the King (Jesus)

There were faithful and unfaithful among these three groups.

Question is, which of the groups do you belong?

How do we get extra oil? How do we get an excess measure of the Holy Spirit?

  1. Realize that upon giving our lives to Jesus we were given two things: A measure of the Holy Spirit. This is our oil. The treasure of the kingdom of heaven. This is the Gospel Message.
  2. Realize that to get more oisl, we must invest the treasure of the kingdom of heaven (Gospel Message). In doing this, our treasure will multiply, more light will be revealed to us and our faith will grow. It is through this investment we will realize our need to seek the person who is responsible to multiply this treasure (the Holy Spirit). The more we ask for Spirit the more it will be given to us. No one makes an investment expecting a loss.
  3. This investment must be made in People (Mission Work and Personal Evangelism). Thus, fulfilling the Gospel commission.

In realizing and doing these things earnestly, with complete surrender to Christ, getting Extra Oil is guaranteed.

This matter of Extra Oil, this excess measure of the Holy Spirit, is what will determine our eternal destiny in these last days.

Get Extra Oil today! it could mean for you, eternal life or eternal damnation.

How To Get Extra Oil – Part 2

money grows big

In part 1 of this three (3) part series, we saw that the extra oil the five wise virgins had represented an excess measure of the Holy Spirit.

It was observed from analyzing the parable that without an excess measure of the Holy Spirit in these last days we will not be ready for the second coming of Jesus, and inadvertently hear the dreadful words “I know you not”.

How do we get this EXTRA OIL? How do we get an excess portion of the Holy Spirit within us?

Let’s continue to find out.

Immediately after the parable of the Ten Virgins comes the parable of the Talents.

Reference – Matthew 25:14–30

Parable of the Talents Explained

extra bags moneyA man is going to travel to a faraway country. But before he goes away he calls his servants and gives them his belongings (talents referred to Bags of Gold in the NIV translation). There are three servants.

Servant 1 gets 5 Talents

Servant 2 gets 2 Talents

Servant 3 gets 1 Talent

Each servant receives talents based off their ability to manage them. This means that Servant 3 was given 1 talent because his Master saw that he had the ability to manage only 1 at the time he was given it.

Servant 1 – invests the five talents entrusted to him and that investment doubles to ten talents.

Servant 2 – invests the two talents entrusted to him and that investment doubles to four talents.

Servant 3 – on the other hand did nothing with what was entrusted to him. He held unto to the treasure and hid it.

After a long time journeying the master returns and asks for a report from his servants. Matthew 25:19

Servant 1 gives his report saying, “Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more”.

The master then answers, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord”.

Servant 2 gives his report and tells his master that he invested what was entrusted to him and it doubled. The master answers the same as he answered to the first servant.

Now Servant 3 gives his report. He comes up with an excuse for not investing or using wisely what was entrusted to him. He then tells his master that he hid the money.

The master responds saying that he is “wicked and slothful”.

give moneyHe then orders that the talent be taken from him and given to Servant 1. He then gives the reason for doing that. Judgement is then passed upon this servant in verse 30 and he is cast into outer darkness.

A lot right? I know. Let’s continue.

The Parable Analyzed

Jesus begins with the phrase “The kingdom of heaven is as”, before he said, “The kingdom of heaven is likened unto”. He is making analogies here, with repetition for emphasis, but in the form of parables from different perspectives to make the one point. Keep this in mind.

So what does this parable, have to do with getting extra oil or getting an excess portion of the Holy Spirit?

Answer: When we come to the Lord, we become servants of the Lord. Whether faithful servants or unfaithful servants. John 12:26, John 13:16, 1 Cor 4:1-2. Why servants? Because it is through servitude true love is revealed.

The man in the parable can be compared to the Lord Jesus our Master. Just as the master in the parable gave unto his servants talents to care for, so too are we given the treasures of the kingdom of heaven to care for on earth. But it is not for us to store up this treasure for ourselves.

We are to invest it. “Lay not up for yourselves treasures on earth; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19-20). In investing this treasure of the kingdom (the word of God, the Gospel message, our testimonies, sound and true biblical doctrine etc.) our efforts will bear fruit.

When we invest the treasure of the kingdom given to us, we will have a reason to ask for more of the Holy Spirit.

Why? Because it is the Holy Spirit that brings the increase. No one makes an investment expecting a loss. When we come to Christ we get a measure of the Holy Spirit, but when we invest the treasure given, we need the Holy Spirit to multiply it.

No one makes an investment expecting a loss.

Thus, we will yearn, and seek for the element responsible for the increase, the Spirit of God.

If we do not use or invest our “talents” the treasures of the kingdom, holding unto the truth, holding unto the Word, our testimonies and the Gospel message we will be just like the unfaithful servant and will be cast out into outer darkness.

So as Christians, we have the treasure of the kingdom.

In order for that treasure to multiply we need the Holy Spirit.

And to get the Holy Spirit to do the work we must do our part and invest the treasure.

So the final and pressing question left to ask is:

What do we invest in?

Answer: Let’s continue to Part 3 to find out. (Spoiler – answer can be found in the next parable)

How To Get Extra Oil – Part 1

olive oil anoint

This is part one of a three part series on “how to get extra oil.” We will be focusing on Matthew chapter 25 and looking closely at the three parables Jesus spoke of in an attempt to answer the question. So, What is extra oil, Why do we need it?

Let’s dig deeper in Matthew 25 to find out. Read the parable of the Ten Virgins, Matthew 25:1-13

Ten Virgins Parable Explained:

Ten virgins (bridesmaids) set out to go to a wedding feast. Jesus says that five were wise and five were foolish. They are all dressed for the occasion and have the necessary equipment for the journey ahead.

Night falls and they pull out their lamps. All ten virgins have:

  • Lamps
  • Oil
  • Wick

The bridegroom (groom) for the wedding tarries, meaning he didn’t come on time. While the ten virgins (both the wise and foolish) wait for the groom to come, they fall asleep.

At midnight, a trumpet sounds and a cry is made that the bridegroom is coming and that it is time to go and meet him. That midnight cry wakes the ten virgins. They all get up and start to trim their lamps (this means to prepare them for use).

The five wise virgins took with them on their journey, extra oil in their vessels (little bottles). The five foolish didn’t take any extra oil. The five foolish ask the five wise to share their oil with them. Why, because their lamps were gone out (one translation says that their lamps were going out). The five wise said “NO!, we will not, if we do we will not have enough oil for ourselves and what we will give, if we give, will not be enough for you either. Go to people who sell oil and buy for yourselves.”

While they went to buy, the bridegroom arrived. They that were ready (including the five wise virgins) went in with the him to the marriage and the door was shut.

The virgins return, realizes the door is shut and says “Lord, Lord open to us”. (Lord is the bridegroom)

The Lord answered and said “Verily I say unto you, I know you not”

Jesus then ends by saying (Matthew 25:13) “Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh”

The charge by Jesus here is to BE PREPARED, AT ALL TIMES for his Second Coming.

The Parable Analyzed:

Jesus begins with the phrase “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins” he was continuing on a comment he had mentioned previously and the ending of (Matthew 24). In that chapter, Jesus spoke about the signs of His second coming and the wisdom of watching and always being ready.

So, what was the difference between the wise virgins and the foolish virgins?

Wise – Were prepared

Foolish – Were not prepared

What did the wise possess that made them prepared.

Question is, what is this oil and how do we get extra?

Observe: Both sets of virgins had oil, the difference between them is that the wise had extra.

OIL in this context represents the HOLY SPIRIT. Oil is normally used to anoint in the physical sense and in the spiritual sense the Holy Spirit is responsible for anointing, thus oil is synonymous with the Holy Spirit. Luke 4:18, Acts 10:38. So the five wise virgins had extra oil. Meaning, they had more of the Holy Spirit compared to the five foolish virgins.

Five Wise Virgins Five Foolish Virgins
Lamps Lamps
Oil Oil
Slept Slept

It is interesting to note that both groups had oil, they both had measures of the Holy Spirit but the wise were able to tap into the reservoir that they had stored up. They had an excess measure of the Holy Spirit compared to the foolish virgins. Why was that?

It is obvious that what the Oil represents, (Holy Spirit) is necessary for our salvation in the end times. So! How do we get this EXTRA OIL? How do we get an excess portion of the Holy Spirit within us?

Answer: Let’s continue to PART 2 – spoiler (answer can be found in the next verses in Matthew 25)
